Read or Condemn Yourself to Death by Ignorance

Wednesday 3rd February 2016

I hope this finds you fit and well and that you enjoy this week's collection of some of the best that crossed my digital desk.

What's YOUR Statue?
Every block of stone

"Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it." Michaelangelo He also said, "The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark." And lastly, "Genius is eternal patience." So, let's take the idea of a statue and apply it as a metaphor (a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable) to your goal in life. So, my question to you today is, "What's YOUR Statue?" On what are you patiently investing your "genius" to create? Is it a goal high enough to inspire and bring out the best in you? Are you leaping out of bed with enthusiasm each morning to create it? Are you having to drag yourself away from it to go to bed? If that is not how you feel, is unearthing your "statue" not one of the most important things you can invest your time?

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell’s Africa Dance Video

The fact that I love Africa by Toto alone makes this worth watching.

The wrong thing to do is nothing!

Two short sentences

These two short sentences tell you a lot about our governments and our culture:

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners and bikers by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.

2. Seems we constantly hear about how the Australian Old Age Pension Plan could run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare and illegal immigration support running out of money? What's interesting is that the first group "worked for" their money, but the second group didn't.

Psychiatry Is NOT The Solution! It Is (A Big) Part Of The Problem!
Mad In America

If you are feeling down, go for a walk. Antidepressants DOUBLE the rate of suicides.

Until next time,
dream big dreams,
plan out how to achieve them,
be continually executing your plans,
enlist people to your causes,
travel and/or read widely, preferably both,
all the while observing what you observe
rather than thinking what you are told to think,
think well of your fellow man,
take time to help your fellow man,
he sorely needs it and it will help you too,
eat food that is good for your body,
exercise your body,
take time to destress,
and do the important things
that make a difference -
they are rarely the urgent ones!
