G’day, Hope this finds you fit and well. Some time ago you, or somebody using your email address, signed up as a registered user on Tom’s Blog on Life and Livingness. http://tomgrimshaw.com/tomsblog/ Now I just learned that subscribers do not automatically receive a notification whenever I post an entry to the blog, so you may have forgotten all about ever registering. Or, as there are no posts from you, it may just have been a fleeting interest or... ...any one of a number of other things. So I am sending this copy of my Tips, Links and Tidbits Newsletter to you as a test. Each item in the newsletter also gets posted as a blog entry. Some people prefer the newsletter, some prefer the blog. If you do not wish to receive future copies of the newsletter please drop me a line and I will promptly remove you from the newsletter mailing list. All the best in your endeavours. Tom Grimshaw |

Windows 7 upgrade path looks rocky Microsoft says the upgrade for Windows XP and Vista users makes it look as though users will have a tough time installing the new operating system. Most will require the complete wiping of the hard drive and an installation from scratch. http://www.itnews.com.au/News/152480,windows-7-upgrade-path-looks-rocky.aspx |

GM Foods are Flawed Scientific Dogma Run Amok Dr. Pusztai’s earlier research into the effects of GM potatoes showed that rats suffered from weakened immune systems and stunted growth of their internal organs, including the liver, kidneys and brain, on such a diet. There is also compelling evidence indicating GM potatoes may cause cancer. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/09/05/Chickens-Not-Fooled-by-GM-Crops.aspx |

Obama Appoints Another Fox to Guard the Chicken House President Obama recently selected Michael Taylor, former chief lobbyist for Monsanto, as the new “food safety czar” at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Think about that: The former lawyer and lobbyist for the company that manufactured Agent Orange will now make decisions about America’s food supply. Taylor is the man most responsible for getting recombinant bovine growth hormone (rbGH) approved for use in dairy cows. That’s the stuff that fattens the cows to dangerously obese sizes, getting them ready for slaughter faster (By the way – Monsanto produces the growth hormone). Look here for the full text of this story soon. http://www.alsearsmd.com/past-issues.html |

Eyeball Engineering This is for all of the frustrated engineers out there. There always seems to be a guy who can look at something and tell you that a line or an angle is off. Now you can try your skill at using ’the eye’. This is tougher than it looks. It is not timed so take your time. http://woodgears.ca/eyeball |
