Slow Start Up
The longer you have Windows installed, the longer it can take to start up. That which causes this will eventually slow down the general operation and shutdown speed as well.
So, how do you fix this?
Firstly, check if you have enough memory (RAM). For Windows XP, Vista or 7, 2GB is becoming a norm. But if you have anything under 1GB, an upgrade may be worthwhile.
Other than that here are a few simple tips:
- Avoid installing any program unless you really need to.
- Avoid installing fonts that you do not need.
- Perform Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter daily.
- Remove any programs that you no longer need.

Texting and Driving Contributed to 6K Deaths in 2008
Distracted drivers - including those sending and reading text messages from behind the wheel - caused the deaths of nearly 6,000 people in 2008, according to Wednesday data from the US Department of Transportation http://enews.pcmag.com/u.d?JYGsYXKxeUyrT78igHwc=201
Well it’s been an interesting week.
I made some mince stew Wednesday night with some Dolmio’s pasta sauce. Finished a decent sized plate of it and had a compulsive craving to eat more. Recognising that as a symptom of an excitotoxin I checked the label, “natural flavour (from wheat)” it said. A call to Mars Foods (should have known, anyone who can produce Mars bars has got no truck with eating healthy food) and the customer service person said she would get back to me with what it contained. Sure enough, yeast extract she told me.
Now. If you don’t know the ramifications of yeast extract, here is some data for you.
MSG and yeast extract are used by food manufacturers as a taste enhancer to make the comparatively bland taste of natural foods more exciting and appealing to consumers. Unfortunately there are only minor reported side effects: reproductive disorders, migraine headaches, permanent damage to the endocrine system leading to obesity and other serious disorders. From http://www.naturalnews.com/001528.html
So I recommend you check the labels of what you buy and avoid those things that contain “natural flavour” as well as yeast extract, MSG, hydrolysed vegetable protein etc.
Mum Was Right When She Said “Eat your Veggies!”
New research reveals the more veggies and fruit you eat, the smarter you are, literally and figuratively! High fruit and vegetable intake positively correlated with antioxidant status, cognitive performance. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2009-09/ip-hf090809.php
Girl died within hours of receiving a cervical cancer vaccine
If you’ve been following the cervical cancer vaccine news, you already know that 14-year-old Natalie Morton died within hours of receiving a vaccine injection. A pathology report released yesterday somehow manages to shift blame to the girl herself, saying she had an undiagnosed cancer tumor that just happened to activate and kill the girl immediately after her vaccine injection. But the vaccine is safe, authorities say. http://www.naturalnews.com/027151_cancer_cervical_cancer_Natalie_Morton.html

US Autism Rate Up 200% in 6 Years!
A new U.S. government study just released this week says that autism rates in U.S. children have risen 200% over the last six years. This is an alarming increase in a disease that many ill-informed doctors and scientists still brush off as being genetic in origin. But genes can't explain such a rapid increase in the number of children being diagnosed with the disease. Clearly, some other factor is at work, and many parents suspect vaccines are one of the primary contributing factors. http://www.naturalnews.com/027179_John_Travolta_vaccines_autism.html
